From Canale d'Agordo to Gares

The morning isn’t well, but we decide to trek. The weather in this 2013 was not very good and prevent us to do our usual trip in the mountains... but we have to see the situation of the paths in the Alps so we prepare our backpack and go to Canale d’Agordo. Along the route, in Agordo, we meet the rain. Oh gosh!!! But our arrival is near so we go along.
We arrive in Canale d’Agordo and park behind the church, a rapid view to the weather, that seems to say us..hurry up, because I want to do my job! We start our trip.
The Abbey of Galateo on Montello Hills

The abbey of the Galateo, dedicated to Sant'Eustachio, is based in the Montello hill and it rapresent one of the more characteristic element of this hill. Built in the first half of the eleventh century by the powerful noble family of Collalto, was donated by them to the Benedictine monks and voted to Saint Eustache, soldier-martyr and patron of soldiers; the legend says that here is preserved the relic of the arm.
Thanks to the donations and protection of the Collalto, this religious palce grew in importance and in the mid 1500's it was home of great cultural figures of the time, including the Bishop della Casa who wrote here "The Galateo", dedicating to Montello some rhymes. At this period of splendor, followed a decay of the Abbey, which culminated in the First World War that reduced this important complex to a heap of ruins.
From the Vajont Dam to Casera Ditta

This is an unusual path that allow us to discover this places, that are not only dam. After some 300/400 meters from the dam, on the left we see an high stone wall, used like cliff arena. We drive along the main street and after two curves we turn on the narrow road at our right and park the car here. Now we walk along this roard that bring to the village of Pineda. The road crosses the landslide, allowing us to see the Mount Toc and the famous one Muller " M", formed by the separation of the wall from the mount.
Sanctuary Madonna della Corona

The Sanctuary Madonna della Corona (a Spiazzi) is based along the rock side of the Monte Baldo. Here is venerated a stutue of the Madonna, carved in stone in 1432, that miraculously appear on the rock wall of Monte Baldo in 1522. The Sanctuary is the boldest of Italy and to reach it we choice the “Path of the Pilgrim”.
The path starts in Brentino Belluno (province of Verona), reach this village is not very simple but fortunately when we arrived on the bridge on the River Adige (in the locality of Rivalta), we have seen a signal that invite u sto follow yellow symbols along the street and driving for 5 minutes we arrived in this place.
Fosse Valley - Pfossental

The Fosse Valley, inside the Natural Park of the "Gruppo di Tessa", is a valley situated laterally to the Val Senales and furrowed by the River Fosse . It is one of the zones of the Alto Adige richer of game and the atmosphere is still savage and composed by forests of larch, little meadows, ice and snow (also in summer). Along the forest road there are many alpine farms that in summer offers to the visitors the possibility to eat typical products and to stay there for the night.
