FOSSE VALLEY (VAL DI FOSSE - PFOSSENTAL)

OUR ROUTE

The Fosse Valley, inside the Natural Park of the "Gruppo di Tessa", is a valley situated laterally to the Val Senales and furrowed by the River Fosse . It is one of the zones of the Alto Adige richer of game and the atmosphere is still savage and composed by forests of larch, little meadows, ice and snow (also in summer). Along the forest road there are many alpine farms that in summer offers to the visitors the possibility to eat typical products and to stay there for the night. Our route follows the naturalistic route called “Vivere le Malghe” (Live Alpine Farms), its length is about of 5km and start from the parking of "Casera di Fuori". You have to follow the forest road and in one our you arrive to the Moutain Barn of Casera di Mezzo (1954mt); here a simple model of butter centrifuge invites you to turn the crank in order to discover the methods of working of this product, while a water channel (called “Waal”) with a panel, explain an ancient and ingenious method of irrigation used here. Walk for 15 minutes and you arrive to the Rableid Mountain barn where a panel supplies information about the goat reinsertion plan; here a telescope if you are lucky allows you to see these climbers animal otherwise see the mounts that sorrounding you. Walk for other 30 minutes and you arrive to Maso Gelato at the end of the forest road and of our routes with a splendid panorama on the Cima Altissima (3480 m) that it represents a visual border of the Val di Fosse.
