Monti Tomba e Pallon

THE PLACE

These are three important places in the history of Italy during the First World War between Italian versus Austrian Ungaric Army. This area represent an eastern part of the Mount Grappa. After the defeat of Caporetto, here was established the defensive line of the Mount Grappa and all the zone was dispute meter for meter by the opposite alliances, also with intense actions of artillery, until June 30 of 1918 when it passed in the Italian hand. In the top of the Mount Pallon has been rebuilt very well the trenches of that period.

OUR ROUTE FOR YOU

Park your car in the parking near the top of the Mounta Tomba, then walk following the path number TV1 in the direction of Mount Grappa, at your right you can see the Belluna Valley and the Alps, at your left the venetian plan and if the weather is very good also the venetian lagoon. The path isn't difficult but there is two little steep slope that bring you to the Mount Castel Cesil and after to the trenches of Mount Pallon. Along the route you will find one restaurant and one Alpine House but it is frequently closed. Time of route: 2,5h.
